Is the group more important than the individual? This is a hard question for many to answer. If you were to ask me, I would say yes and no. To you, your family might be more important than you, but do you think that a group of thugs are more important than yourself?
Yes, in some cases the group is more important than one person. When there is a group of civilians stuck in a fire and one guy is in another area, the firefighters are going to get the group first. Also when there is a bunch of people rigged with C4 in a bank compared to a dude at gunpoint in an alley, the cops are going to the bank. So yes the group can be more important.

Then again, one person can be and is equal to everyone else. The president came into the world the same way a hobo that wastes money at a liquor did. God made everyone equally like cops and the S.W.AT. team or terrorist and rapist. Everyone gets the same life, it depends on how well they take care of it.

How many Justin Biebers could you take in a fight?

Created by Oatmeal

HAHA!! TAKE THAT YA FREAK OF NATURE!

Myspace OUT, Facebook IN?

Myspace has recently been updated and now there are many people who are unhappy about the big changes. Myspace is no longer 'Myspace' but now ' my__'. Get it?
And now they have a lot of new and so-called "improved" things. For example, your profile might be a bit more difficult(or not, depending on you)And a background might be harder to find. Many users have friended a profile that opposes the newer version and threatens to leave Myspace unless it is changed back to the original version.
lately I've been hearing many people talk about Facebook as if it has replaced Myspace. I have asked an Anonymous female who believes that this is exactly the case.
" Of course Facebook replaced Myspace. Myspace is too complicated now. Facebook is kinda' like the new 'it' website now. Before, I guess it was a little lame, I mean I didn't have one and now I do. Ever since Myspace changed, Facebook looks better to me. So in my opinion, Facebook IS better."
Do YOU agree with Anonymous?Or will you stick with Myspace through thick and thin?
Discuss & comment. . . I'd love to hear your input.

Should People Have and Accept Their "Roles?"

People sometimes say that we have "roles" to play in our lives and should just accept what we "have" to do. I think otherwise. If people just accepted doing whatever small things they do then we wouldn't have had all the great people that helped shape our world today. If Thomas Edison had accepted that he couldn't make a light bulb then we wouldn't have the electricity we have today. And if you strive to do more, than you can accomplish more and change your "role."
If you want to see an example of a "role" in life then check this site out.(beware it oddly has one curse word in the middle of all these smart words...) This site explains some of the roles considered for men and women along with what is usually done now. It's shown on a chart lower on the page, but above half of the page.
So we've went from many specific types of people usually doing the same thing in life to people doing whatever they would love to do. You can change your "role" so you don't have to accept it. Why would you accept something when you can easily make better of it then accept it? You can choose your own "role" and change it whenever.

Individual or the Group

Do you mean nothing? Do your couragous actions get thrown to the curb for the "group". I say NO, you should, you shouldn't have to stand around while everyone else in class or in your club takes there time. You should be able to work at your own pace without having to hold on because everyone else doesn't get it yet. One of the things someone said about this is that the individual gets to clean up their own mess and thats just what I think. Even though it could be good to let people catch but if the whole group is slow you should be ablework on your own. I mean if you want to.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Review

This game is a bit older and the graphics may be a bit bad for now-a-days but I still love to play the game. It's a fun, action, RPG game. It has a great storyline and many choices to make and very fun battles. The game takes place way, way back very far before any of the Star Wars movies you know. And sorry but to tell you what it is about I will have to spoil a surprise that's near the end. You used to be Darth Revan, Dark Lord of the Sith. A Jedi named, Bastilla, had captured you while your apprentice, Darth Malak, saw an opportunity to kill you by firing at your ship. You were brought back to the Jedi Order and your mind and identity has been erased. From then on you make good or evil decision distributing to Light side points and Dark side points. The further to the Dark side you are, the uglier and more gruesome you look
Now you don't know you're Revan until your first face off with Malak(funny thing: I heard Darth Revan before I had this game, named my character Darth Revan, and then figured out that I was Darth Revan. If you are good you can say:"I'm not Darth Revan anymore. Now I'm Darth Revan." So that was a funny experience.). But overall the side quests and story and all the things you can do in the game are amazing. I would have to rate it a 9/10.

Today I will be talking about a game called Fallout 3 for the Xbox 360. Whoever plays Xbox 360 should know what this game is it has been voted best game of the year by 4 different groups. This game also has five different add-ons like Operation Anchorage, Point Lookout, and Broken Steel. Fallout 3 takes place during a post nuclear world and has many different concepts from different time periods. Since this game was so successful they made a new Fallout called Fallout New Vegas. Overall after I beat this game I would have given it a 5 out of 5 because of its good campaign and side quests.
Today I went to a new pizza place where Lampost used to be, it is called Red Devils. Red Devils pizza has good food like pizza and hot wings. The inside of it looked like it used to be just a little difference. Overall this new place has better food and is all around better than Lampost.

House of the Scorpion question thingy

Let's say that a person who is an A student, and all-star in their schools football team, and is the apple of his parents eye, we'll call him...Scott, and his friend for say, um 6years, we'll call the friend...Robert, just started hanging out with the "bad-boys" of their school because his parents are divorcing. Now Adam was walking home from... Sarah's, his girlfriend, house when he see's Robert and his 'group' were smoking as Robert sees Scott as well.(Let's see how it plays out.)
Robert:(With cigarette in hand, rushes over to Scott)Hey man. Long time no see.
Scott:(Nudges Robert in the other way as he keeps on walking)
Robert:(Getting mad) Hey man, why don't you have some. Take a load off. (Waves it in his face) You know you want to.
Scott:(Keeps on walking)
"The group":(Grabs Scott)
Robert:You know you don't walk away from me.(Scott puts his nose up as Robert waves it in his face)
Scott:(Pulls "the group" off of him.) I can smell the booze in your breath.(Grabs Roberts shoulders)Go home.
Robert:(Looks at Scott's face for a long moment)Okay.(Scott begins to escort Robert home. "The bad boys" slowly follow them.)
James( a "bad boy"):No one walks away from us. (The "bad boys 'jump' them as Sarah walks outside to see the 5 of them in a fight.)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~PAUSE~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now if you were Sarah or a 'gossiper' and you just saw a big fight, you would automatically assume that Robert's influence has changed him in a 'fighter.' If you were Scott or Robert in this position, you would know the truth but no one would believe you because they assume that all along Robert has been influencing him and he has become this new man. Now what do you think? That Scott should be judges for a simple act or shouldn't. Comment for your answer. Or post one of you own with the help of this hyper-linked-post.
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Review
This game was made in 2007 and many people won't know what game this is. But anyways, I'd have to say it is an awesome and well thought-out game. Many know about the Fallout games which are made by Bathesda and they also made Oblivion and the other Elder Scrolls games before that one. Most of the great physics are the same as Fallout 3. But this game dates back in I think the 1400's. It also has very, very, hardly worked on systems of things like skills, character levels, and much more. They have things you can learn like armorer(You can repair items better and at one point magical items) or be skilled in medium armor or better with blades and sneak or marksmanship. They did a whole lot more to make a great game with these complicated games than their Fallout series. There are so many creature they thought of with completely original design. You may see creatures with a species name you've heard before but they are either way different or totally different. Like trolls are these weird, hairy, three-eyes gorilla things. So much to do in the game and so much to say about it. My very personal review is a full 10/10. If it wasn't so personal because I like it so much then I think it would be a 9.5/10 to me.
The movie "Friday" is my favorite movie in the world (besides "Rush Hour"). Both of them have the actor Chris Tucker in them. "Friday" obviously takes place in the day Friday. The star of the movie is Ice Cube (real name is O'shea Jackson). He lives in the ghetto in this movie. His best friend is Smokey (Chris Tucker). In this movie Craig (Ice Cube) just lost his job and it was on his day off. Meanwhile, Smokey had to sell some of this man named Big Worm"s drugs. If he doesn't, he will get killed. There is also a neighborhood bully named Debo. Debo rides around town on his bike (which is really a character Named Red's bike) and steals people's chains, watches, and all other jewelry. Smokey end up getting Craig mixed into the drug problem and they later get shot at by Worm's boys. Then Craig fights Debo. Debo begins the fight well and everyone thinks he beat up Craig. But Craig gets up and throws a brick at Debo's head, right in the middle of his eyes. At the end Smokey goes to rehab so he can stop being a drug addict.
Titanic
Who has ever seen the movie, "Titanic?" Well I have seen it and I think it is one of the best movies I have ever seen. It does have brief nudity but the story is just...WOW! I would definitely recommend it to people. It is a great movie to watch with your significant other because of how Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio portray their roles. It is about 194minutes long, but when you start the movie, you can't stop. For the people who want to know what it is about, it's about young lovers who find one another on the on the maiden voyage of the "unsinkable" R.M.S. Titanic. But when the doomed luxury liner collides with an iceberg in the frigid North Atlantic, their passionate love affair becomes a thrilling race for survival. James Cameron does a phenomenal job of recreating the demise of the Titanic through the eyes of a women(Gloria Stuart/Kate Winslet) who survived the horrifying collision and along the way had a love affair ,which broke her free from the rich, high society life with the love of a poor man, Jack Dawson(Leonardo DiCaprio). This movie is stunning and amazing and I HIGHLY recommend it to those who are reading my post.
The Movie "Morning Glory"
Hello readers of my post! Who wants to see the movie "Morning Glory?" Well for those who do/don't I would HIGHLY recommend it! It is a really good movie. I went with my mom to see it November 12th and it is sad but it makes you smile once you step out of the theater. Rachel McAdam's is a great actress in general which is why she is my favorite actress and she is perfect for this role. Harrison Ford is also perfect for the role of the 'cranky news-anchor' and don't get me started on Diane Keaton. All I can say about this movie is "Funny," and "Heartwarming." Hope you go to see it before it is out of the theaters. And on Friday I will be posting about "Love & Other Drugs," which looks like it will make me cry. :)
Inception
The movie "Inception" is one of the best movies I have ever seen.It was kind of hard to understand at first but once I got it i really got into it. The best part to me is when the main character gets sent to a sub conscious state named " limbo" and you can stay there forever in dream years, that particular man just happens to come back to life at 65 in dream years. Anyway they end up going into a mans dream to plant an idea to buy a Major corporation. Which brings back to the title " Inception."
Call of Duty: Black Ops: My Review
Black Ops definitely took out everything wrong with Modern Warfare 2 but I feel they took out a bit too much. There aren't too many weapons and they are mostly boring weapons so you don't get to be much different from other people's classes. So many less pistols and other guns and they don't look to great either. Also, claymores became way too concealable. You can NEVER see them. And now the sniper is horrible and the maps aren't very sniper friendly with most beig medium sized or have too much stuff in it blocking long range kills. However, some good things are the new customization. You can create your own emblem, put it on your gun, and put your clan tag on your gun. You can also have facepaint and many more gun camoflauges. But some more on the online gameplay is the horrible hit detection. Overall, I would give it an 8.5/10. If the campaign wasn't as good as it was than it would have been a lower score.
Hey it's your boy Sam
Have you ever spaced out during class when your teacher is teaching a lesson and then you just come back and out of nowhere BOOM! Your teacher calls on you and you have no idea what he or she is talking about. Do you think that is fair at all. If you don't think it is fair we can team up and debate about it. Kid power. Starbucks Coffee
The picture I am showing, is my favorite drink of all time. When my mom was pregnant with me, more than half of the stuff she drank was chai's. The drinks I get from there and would recommend is a chai cream frappicino, iced chai, and/or soy chai latte. These drinks are delicious and make me happy every time I get one. This is my secret to bliss. Also, if you have a card and you register it at the hyperlink I gave, after you buy 15 drinks, you get one free. My grandma has bought so many for us that she a cold Starbucks Card! Hope you get one. :)
To my newly lost dog, Rolly Polly Olly
Rolly, you were always a pain. When the girls where in heat you would go nuts. When Bear tried to bite my mom, you would defend my mom. Your cherry-eye would make most of my friends think of you as "ugly" but I have never thought that. You were always adorable. It is sad what happened the other day(11/8/10.) Though, sad doesn't even come close. On December 20, 2009, I lost Miley and then July 16 came around and Fred, the dog who I grew up with, had to get put asleep, my heart hurt more and more each day from losing both. You and Bear helped through it all. Then I got Coco and she would attack both you and Bear and soon enough you both were bald. Once you and Coco became friends, and we added Clyde into the mix. Because of your little dog syndrome, you would growl and attempt to bite Clyde who happens to be 5x your size. Now that you have gone from a cause none of us know why, it will be hard to recover, but I have to help your sister, Bear, through. Rest In Peace ,Rolly Polly Olly. I love you.
Edgar Allan Poe
Edgar Allan Poe. If you went and asked someone about him, most likely they would say he's "troubled," "disturbed," or "insane." Personally, I would have to say that he is troubled but he has a gift to see into the darkest corners of the human mind and make into a very interesting story. My view of him most could say is biased because I am a person who LOVES dark, mysterious, and suspenseful stories. Though, next to dark stories, love/romance is in tie for first in my best genre list. Edgar Allan Poe is a man who is and always will be known forever.
Call of duty Black Ops
The most anticipated videogame I think ever. By the hype everyone around me is bringing it I think you all should pre -order your copy now before the game sells out in thirteen seconds flat.All I have to see is GO BLACK OPS!
Mom: No, not anymore
What year?
Mom: this year, 2010
Was it valid to have road rage at that time?
Mom: No
Modern Music: Are the People Actually Talented?
I will be discussing if today's pop and all that stuff has any real talent in it or if anybody can do it. Usually every song I hear that people are always talking about or love, they happen to just have sounds and the singing really isn't singing and it's probably been edited to make it sound good. Or most rap is pretty much like a poem with music and sounds but the person doesn't really sing, they are basically talking. The only talent you really need for this stuff is creativity. And you would have to have money for everything to be fixed up and all of the sounds made and stuff.
Video-Game addict Interview
Okay, so my nephew Jonny is addicted to video games, but he doesn't like to admit it. So, I thought that it would be interesting to interview him. He seemed to be offended when I asked him , but he was a good sport and let me tease him a little bit... Here's how it went.
Cassie Jay:
okay so do you consider yourself a video game addict.
Jonny: um... i do play video games but I'm not an addict. I'm really good at games though
Cassie Jay: good at what games?
Jonny: action games.
Cassie Jay: whats your favorite action game?
Jonny: red dead redemption.
Cassie Jay: why is that your favorite game?
Jonny: cause you can do alot of stuff in that game.
Cassie Jay: could you be more specific? like what kind of stuff?
Jonny: like going into different countries... crossing the border and stuff.
Cassie Jay: what your least favorite game?
Jonny:my least favorite game?
( i smile and nod)
Jonny: my least favorite game.. my least favorite game IS,
( he snaps his fingers as if it will help him remember)
OH! halo. trust me, if you play your just not gonna get into it.
Cassie Jay: okay, well how often do you get grounded
off video games?
Jonny: sometimes... but i don't care.
Cassie Jay: ha! don't lie i live with you... you freak out.
Jonny: NO! erase that... I don't freak out... what are you talking about?
Cassie Jay: hmmm... yes you do.
Jonny: oh no i don't.
( i lift my brow and give him a smirk)
Jonny: alright lets just get over it now.
Cassie Jay: okay then... do you believe that you are in denial?
Jonny: wait what does that denial mean?
Cassie Jay: you don't think that you are addicted to playing video games right?
Jonny: ummmm... i.. umm...why do you think that?
Cassie Jay: think what that your in denial or that your an addict?
Jonny: I'm none of that i just like playing video games.
( he smiles widely)
Cassie Jay: okay, Jonny ,okay.
Saw 3D review
On Friday my friend and I went to Edward's Cinema to watch Saw 3D. As usual, people are victims of deadly traps.One man claims that he is a survivor, when the truth is that he has never been in a trap. He has made a career out of a lie, and now "Jigsaw" was going to set him straight.
If you are a hard-core gore lover, I'll say that you might be a bit disappointed. To me it seems that the movie focused mostly on the 3D effects...it didn't show as many "IN-YOUR-FACE" pop-outs as i expected. However I did notice that it was like the people were the ones that were popping out of the screen... for example there was a guy with an unusually bright purple jacket on a skate-board Its like he was in the theater. Other than that it was.. eh, fine.. But, that seems to be the problem with these new 3D films. They take up so much time on the 3D FX than the more important effects, like gore. It looked very uninteresting, in my opinion. The best part of the movie was the end(no, not because it ended) but because it had a very interesting twist. Trust me... it even made ME be like" No way!"
I give it
Parents
For my post today, I will be posting about parents. When they kiss you in front of friends, you cringe and/or pull away or when they try to actually talk to you, most kids just ignore them. For most people now-a-days, they don't have a mom or dad to lean on when you get caught up in drama. My mom and I are very close, thus making me furious when kids make a big deal that "their rents' are bringing down their style." In this century we now live in, most families are one parent or kids live with their other family members. What makes me so upset is when parents abuse their children. Domestic violence is a BIG issue and is happening in most homes and when people know, they do nothing. There are two kinds of evil; people who do evil and people who see bad things happening and do nothing about it. When you have a good parent right in front of you, you shouldn't be taking it for granted. Hopefully, those who read this will consider. Thank you. <3>
Today I will be interviewing my brother Connor he is currently a sophomore. My brother is a very good student.
Connor what is your favorite subject in school.
History
What is your favorite part of history
Learning about wars
What is your least favorite subject
Math
What is your GPA
3.5
Were would you like to travel
Ireland
That is all I had to ask.
Today I will talk about the greatest sport in the world, basketball. Aside from football and baseball, basketball is the world's most known sport.If you think about it, it's kind of like math. You have to shoot it at a certain angle, depending how close or how far you are. The speed and rotation of the ball also counts. I think that the NBA will be one of the best and well-known associations for many years to come.
Monday, November 1, 2010
Today I will be talking about the an unknown sport like cricket. Even though cricket is not well known in the U.S it is a sport that is played around the world. Cricket is a very interesting sport it is similar to football because it has 11 people on a team. It is similar to baseball because there is a batter and a pitcher in this case a bowler. I think if people see it on TV then they might think that is interesting and then cricket will grow into a big sport in the U.S.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B5i3dKdcaro&feature=related.
My Interview with my sister Samantha Renee
So today, I sat down with my sister, Samantha, over a nice cup of hot chai from Starbucks. As we talked and reminisced, I decided to use her for my English project. I wanted to interview her because, she has been working at Disneyland for six months now and she is also two months pregnant.
This is a random question, but what is your favorite movie, and why?
"Well, I guess I would have to say 'The Lion King.' Though I like 'Beauty and the Beast' too, but 'The Lion King' because it never gets old.
Who would would you say you depend on the most?
"Mom. Definitely momma. That is exactly why I moved back here."
What is it like to be working backstage at Disneyland for the cast members?
"Strange. You would never expect to see the people in the costumes. Especially cause I have seen Mickey with his head off and Tinker Bell curse. It was so funny!"
What is one benefit about working there?
"My 365 day pass and I get really good discounts at most of the stores."
Disneyland is "The Happiest Place on Earth." Why do you think so?
"It seems like every time I actually go to the park, the magic is just...amazing! I feel like a little kid going for the first time." She brushes her hand through her hair. "People say the 'magic' is just propaganda, but it really isn't"
What are you excited about for your child?
"Oh jeez! Well after years of hate in our family,we are closer than before. Besides the fact of mom and dad being divorced, we are like never before."
Once I was finished with my interview, we met up with our brother, Josh, his wife, and our nephews. It was a nice evening.
In n Out
In n Out is a good little fast food place that sells burgers. In n Out has good burgers and fries plus they have a very nice decor. The prices are reasonable for there burgers and combos. This place is clean and looks nice and has nice employee's. When I went there they had good service and the food was delivered fast. At In n Out you can get burgers as big as you want. Overall I would give In n Out A solid 9 out of 10 in my opinion.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Review
I would rate this game an 8.5. The reason for it being that low for a CoD game is because of how Infinity Ward screwed up with the online gameplay. The story is great though. There's lots of action and jaw-dropping moments. But from my online experiences, the online gaming is just disappointing and upsetting. There are so many glitches and things that you know shouldn't happen. It's especially frustrating when you're about to get a kill streak and then someone kills you but to your screen it doesn't look anything like what really happened. Like when you commando and jump toward a guy and stick your knife in him but he shoots you when your knife is in him and you die. And the delay in taking damage can be annoying because it looks as if you got behind cover before you died. And all the problems with people camping and shooting grenade launchers only when it doesn't even need to be used. And so much more. Anyways I have pre-ordered Black Ops and hopefully it won't fail as Modern Warfare 2 has.
Edgar Allen Poe, crazy or disturbing. I think this man is very unpredictable but a very good writer. Most of the stories that I have been reading from Edgar have been impressive like The Tell Tale Heart or The Masque of the Red death. Most people think that Poe is a very bad writer and many would say that he is crazy. In my opinion he is misunderstood in some ways, also some people dis reguard his writing because of his vocabulary and speech in most of his stories. So i think that Poe is a great writer and I plan on reading more of his stories.
I, Samuel Coleman, am learning about the amazing Edgar Alen Poe. Some people may think of him as insane person, but my personal opinion of Poe is he just unleashes the true evil inside everyone. So that is the thing that makes his writing so magnificent. Edgar Allen Poe rules, he strives for everyone that reads his stories to get a horrifying feeling that becomes larger the deeper they get into the story.
Carl's Jr.
Carl's Jr is a great place to get something quick to eat, or to have a good dinner. It has small burgers to enormous burgers. Its shakes are also pretty good. The Western Bacon Cheeseburger is great. It has beef, cheese, BBQ sauce, onion rings at the bottom, and buns, of course. Then there is the steep price of the "Six Dollar Burgers." There price is obviously six dollars and Carl's Jr's best and biggest burgers, including the Western Bacon Cheeseburger, are in this group. Though they have high prices, there food is well made and not to long of a wait either.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show
Okay. So as you can see in my title, I will be talking about the movie made in 1975, "Rocky Horror Picture Show." This movie is really weird and really fun to watch. I would not recommend it for a family movie, but I would recommend it for people who would love to laugh and people who are...mature. It is about a guy named, Brad Majors and a women, Janet Weiss who have planned to elope. When they are driving, they get a flat tire and they walk up the street when they come upon a castle. Well at least that's what they thought. Once they are inside, they meet Riff Raff, a house keeper. Then they meet, Magenta, a maid. Soon enough they break out in song to my favorite, The Time Warp. Then they meet Dr. Frank-n-Furter, my favorite. He is planning to make a man, named Rocky Horror. Pretty much they wind up in his plan to go back to their planet, Tran-sexual Transylvania. The rest is for you to find out. My friend Emily said at Target, it is only $5.
The Diary of Anne Frank play
My post is going to be about a play that will be taking place at the school I go to. In class one day my teacher told us that most of the 8th grade English classes will be doing a skit/play for English/History night at our school and me, being the aspiring thespian I am, I went. The skit/play we are doing is the world renowned book, "The Diary of Anne Frank." We have been doing this for I guess 4-5weeks(once a week) and so far, the practices have been really fun and it is going smoothly! Monday, we have dress-rehearsal and on Wednesday is the play. For all of you who read this and go to my school, it will be fun to watch and in my view, everyone is a great part for their role. After the play, I will post a review of how all the scenes went. I will not be biased at all, promise!
Hey I'm going to talk about watermelons. Just to say, I hate watermelon. They're so big and you have to sit there the whole time eating this giant fruit when you could eat an orange or something. And the seeds are evil. They could get stuck in your throat and you would be laying on the floor twitching, knowing that this little black seed is going to make sure that you don't wake up tomorrow. Well the taste is okay, but I still don't like watermelon.
Video Games: Good or Bad?
Video games in my opinion are good. Some people say they rot your brains but that is if you play WAY too much. Video games whether they are rated M or E, they are good. You can learn things from them and could develope great hand-eye coordination for our future pilots. I know that I've learned the meaning of many words from video games that are good and that I am glad I learned so early. Some people also say that video games make people do stupid things. Now just think, if a person were to kill someone because they saw it in a video game they would've already had to be messed up in the head to think it's okay. So video games are not as bad as too many people say.
Hello today I will be blogging about something very interesting. I am going to blog about McDonalds. Some people may say that McDonalds is good but it isn't good for you. McDonalds has caused people to become fat and obese.It is proven that it is very fattening. True McDonalds food might taste good but nothing good will come from it. In conclusion if you eat at McDonalds there is nothing good to come from it
Best of Friends
Funny Really funny! Intelligent Eccentric Nerdy Dorky SUPER!! Friends. A word that is used to describe the people who you can be yourself around, laugh at when your upset or sad. The people you can share your deepest fears and secrets with and trust that they don't leak into society. Originally, i was going to post a whimsical YouTube video, but to me, it wouldn't have felt right. My focus this week has been on friends. All of my quirky, fun loving Friends. I feel that I don't tell them enough, how much they mean to me, which is A LOT. They're always there in my hour of need... always there to back me up...always there to keep me in check:) At a moments notice(like minutemen)Sure, we have our little "spats", but when you roll with the punches and do everything in your power to mend the bond between all of you, THAT, my dear reader is when you realize who is there because they are your friend for YOU, not because your easy to deal with and you don't complain, but for plain 'ole simple YOU! Please, be appreciative of your friends, thank them for being there, tell them how much they mean to you... because you never fully realize these things until you almost lose them, don't let that "close-CALL" be your "wake-up CALL" ~ D.C.T.~ YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE:)
Universal Studios, Halloween Horror Nights
Okay, so as most of you fright fans know, theme parks do a special fright fest due to the fact of Halloween, and they get their cast members to dress up to scare the brave-hear-ted participants. Universal is one of the most blood curdling, into Halloween theme park in Southern California. You can already tell that you will be scared due to the fact that they advise people either with heart problems and/or under the age of 15 not to go. If that hasn't already scared you away, they have their cast members take the chain off of a chainsaw and bang it into the ground just inches away from your feet. Another thing that they do is, thttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifhey have different sections in their park and during this "Halloween Haunt", as they call it, they will put a theme to each section. It just so happens this year, one section was killer clowns. The last thing for me to tell you is a little Mexican folk tale they have put on their website to warn you. It is called "La Llorona." It is about a beautiful women who drowned her children to be with the man she loved. Though, he rejected her and so she too drowned herself. Her ghost is told to be doomed to wander vainly, searching for her kids. According to the tale, she will kidnap wandering children or children who misbehave. Some also believe that those who hear the wails of La Llorona are marked for death. The rest is for you to go and find out.... Though you can find out more at http://www.halloweenhorrornights.com.
Happy Halloween from me, Monica:)
Answer for EnglishAnswerman: Poe
I don't really think poe was "crazy" but maybe a bit odd and twisted then others. He had problems with childhood and alcohol which would help him think of these twisted stories. But just because you can think of odd and horrid things doesn't mean you're crazy. I actually have some randomly horrid thoughts at times when I'm bored. But people have many different ways of thinking which some may consider "crazy" but at the most I think Poe was a bit sick minded. Here is a video of the Tell-Tale Heart. or it's embeded, I don't know.
I think that Edgar Allan Poe is not crazy, but he does seem to be a bit strange. He writes about how some paranoid person is scared of an old man's eye because it reminds the guy of a vultures eye. So you know what the guy does? He kills the old man just because the eye was scary. Then when a neighbor hears the old man screaming, they call the cops. The guy then dismembers the old man and puts the body parts under the wooden planks on the floor. When the cops get to the house, everything is all good. But the guy can't take the guilt any more, so he screams "villains" and rips the plank off the floor and shows them the body parts. Now Poe was most likely not a crazy man, but he seems to have some problems.
Answer for Answerman:Edgar Allan Poe
English Answer man,
Okay, well, for me, it seems that their isn't a straight,one-way, answer to your question. People may be judged by the way they act, or speak, but when writing stories or poems, it can absolutely be based on pure imagination. Saying that Edgar Allan Poe was mad, or crazy, for writing in the style that he did, seems biased. Poe had a rough child hood and also had an alcohol problem. He might have simply let his emotions run wild and turn something rough from his past into an even worse, almost horrific, story or poem. This might have been a way for him to cope with all of his past. No one knows for sure, but in my opinion, Poe was an absolutely SANE creative writer with a unique imagination that he used in his writing pieces. Some authors, however, may take a completely TRUE event from their life, and use different characters. Although I am sure that J.K. Rowling isn't a wizard, and Stephanie Meyer isn't a vampire, there are some writers that do use true events.
-Cassie Jay-
P.S. I am very excited that we are learning about Edgar Allan Poe. He's a fantastic writer!
I believe that you can not judge a person on what they write about. For example, kids books they don't tell you anything because some writers write just to entertain people. J.K Rowling wrote the Harry Poter series not because she believes in wizards but to write something that people will enjoy. Another example is Edgar Allen Poe some people thought he was crazy but he just had many problems in his childhood and a problem with alcohol. In The Tell-Tale Heart it talks about a man killing someone because he doesn't like his eye. In real life Poe would not have done that unless he was intoxicated. Everyone thought that Poe was crazy only because of what he wrote about. That is why you should not judge someone by what they write
"The Heartbreakers"(upland high M.A.D.S)2010 review
Don't these boys look like they're having fun?!
Well, Every year, at Upland High School they host the annual "Choral Showcase", where all of the choirs in the district come together to put on a spectacular show, including the honor choir from all of the Elementary schools. Every year all of the different groups are absolutely fantastic! However, the group that seems to be the most amazing are the "M.A.D.S" a.k.a. The Madrigals. different people form different groups within the Madrigals.One of them are "The Heartbreakers".(the guys above) They sing in the style of a barbershop quartet. The video is of them singing the song they performed at the 2010 showcase, "A Crazy Little Thing ,Called Love"... in the bathroom?! Yeah, that's right.To me, shows that they truly enjoy singing because it is a great experience, and it's fun! It should inspire more guys to join chorus...we could use 'em.:) I will keep reviewing anything that might catch my eye so check in:)
Hope you liked it
The Mohawk Blog: Answer for Answerman
The Mohawk Blog: Answer for Answerman I have never really known what a blog was. I'm excited to figure out what can be heard and said in blogs and how to write in them well. This is all knew to me so I hope I will understand it and post well written blogs.
Answer for Answerman
During the rest of the school year I see myself posting about many different interesting topics, I'd mostly like to write reviews of movies, YouTube videos, and music. I think that doing a class blog this year will help me be more clever about what I write and say. Doing a blog this year will help me to become more acquainted with the people in my group, and the rest of my peers. I think it will help me add personality to all of my writing pieces this year as well. I've never done a blog before, but I've been wanting to make my own for awhile now. And now that I have this opportunity I hope to learn many things and eventually create my own blog.
I see myself posting about many different topics during the year. I am excited about this because I have not ever done a blog about anything. I hope to gain knoledge and to post my ideas for other people to see.
